[EDITOR’S NOTE: We plan to spotlight each of our employees on or near their birthday. On the day we post their spotlight, we will also begin a week of featuring their favorite drink at the shop for $1 off.]

We’re coming at you with another employee spotlight because we’ve got another birthday to celebrate! This week we’re celebrating one of everyone’s favorites, Suresh! Suresh has been with us for over a year and is currently our weekend manager!

You’ll probably catch him working here in the evenings and weekends working, but he also loves to spend time here in his free time studying, catching up with friends, playing games, and listening to live music.

Suresh is a Senior Spanish Translation Interpretation major at Northwestern. He is generally pretty quiet and laid back, but there are so many cool things to learn about him!

He was born and raised in San Francisco, California, but Suresh has also lived in France and Mexico for extended periods. He spent six months in Mexico when he was four years old to visit his dad’s family. While he was there, he learned to speak Spanish fluently (as you do). A couple of summers ago, he spent two months living in France, where he traveled around to different towns and villages, of which Lourdes was his favorite.

When talking to him, it’s clear that Suresh’s family is very important to him. He’s got a mom, a dad, and an older brother. They also have four little dogs named Mimi, Popis, Toby, and Copo! When Suresh needs a good laugh, he just talks to his parents. He claims that his sense of humor is better when he’s speaking Spanish, so if you want him to think you’re funny, you should tell him some jokes in Spanish.

Suresh is an enneagram type 9. To him, this means he has a deep need for peace and often finds himself trying to keep the peace between others. A lesson he shared is to make sure you are not fighting other people’s battles for them. Three words he would use to describe himself are comfortable, laid-back, and friendly. Suresh is the most lovely human being. He is incredibly kind, a great listening ear, and (despite what he says) very funny. He is always himself. We are so fortunate to have him on staff, and we hope you’ll join us in celebrating him!

Come in and enjoy Suresh’s favorite drink, a Dragon Fog, for $1 off from February 28 – March 5 (pro tip from Suresh: it’s best when it’s iced).
